Holly Stephens, Second Rate Chances - Book Tour

Second Rate Chances - Book Tour

Sam wakes up in the hospital expecting to find his girlfriend by his bedside. Instead, he finds a bleached-blond diva, claiming to be his fiancĂ©e, hovering over him. When he learns that he's just woken up from a coma and has lost the last three years of his life, any semblance of stability he thought he had falls down around him. All he wants – all he needs – is Lil.

After countless visits with her shrink and too many sleepless nights waiting for the one man she loves to walk back through the door, Lil wants nothing more than to separate herself from the life she used to have. But the moment Sam smiles at her, Lil knows it's going to take more than self-restraint to stay away.

Second-Rate Chances is about a young man fighting to regain his memory, and the one thing in his life that felt real. A modern-day Samson and Delilah, it's a look at what it means to love and be loved, and to fight though it seems hopeless

As much as I love my hot and steamy romances with so much angst you could possibly feed England, I am also a sucker for a true romance.

"You are so in over your head that even a life raft can't keep you afloat.”

Reading the cover for this book I was instantly sucked into it, It seemed refreshing maybe not 100% original but I don't really think any story is now a days unless you create an entirely new species. I was excited to read this and see how the story would develop.

“You need the closure you never got the first time. This is like a second chance at redemption for you. Maybe to finally get past these pent up feelings that are still buried deep within your soul, you need to forgive Sam once and for all.”

Sam wakes up believing he is still living three years in the past, but reality is like a cold bucket of water when he realizes he is in fact engaged to someone who he cannot remember.

“And you think losing three years of my life – apparently three very important years – is easy for me?” he yelled back. “You think it’s a walk in the park for me to hear that you don't love me? That you don't want to be with me? Pardon the hell out of me, Delilah, for wanting to know what happened.”

Chloe the bleach blonde at his bed-side is nothing like his dear Lil and he can think of nothing more then wanting to see her, the last thing he remember is being with her and planning for their happily ever after. It doesn't take him long to figure out that Chloe is his bosses daughter, and the complete opposite of Lil.

“For it is said that a love of epic proportions would stand the test of time from here until all eternity. For if he was the day and she was the night, one cannot be without the other.”

How would you feel if one day you woke up and your entire life had changed? Unfortunately that is the start reality for Sam and now he must figure out what happened.

In a tone barely above a whisper, Sam asked, “Dad? What kind of person am I?”
It felt like minutes passed before Paul answered him. When he did, Sam was thankful his hands were braced on the bathroom sink. Without it, he would
have surely fallen at his father’s words. “Not the kind I raised you to be.”

This story will pull you in and lead you on an emotional roller coaster, Holly has such a way with words that you are left feeling exactly how the characters are feeling. Just like Sam you want to know what went wrong and how he ended up engaged to Lil's complete opposite. How could his life of taken such a dramatic turn?

“I've already been to hell and back. This time, I want to go to paradise. I want to do whatever it is you want. Because all I want is you, by my side, from this moment until forever.”

Lil is still suffering through the heartbreak of loosing Sam all these years later but she agrees to help him try and remember by taking a hard and emotional journey down memory lane. Can they come out the other end stronger than ever? Or will the same things end up tearing them apart once again?

“He didn’t care if he ever remembered. As long as he never forgot how much he loved her.”

Over all this book was an amazing read that I didn't want to end, it had be feeling along with the characters and wishing for that sought after happily ever after. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a romance story, no matter what type as this has something for everyone.

5/5 stars.
