Monica Murphy - Second Chance Boyfriend Tour

Lost. That one single word best describes my life at this very moment. I lost the last games of the season and both my team and my coach blame me. I lost the last two months because I drowned in my own despair like a complete loser. And I lost the only girl who ever mattered because I was afraid being with me would destroy her.

But now I realize how truly lost I am without her. She has become my story…and even though she acts like she’s moved on, I know she still thinks about me just as much as I think about her. She’s beautiful, sweet—and so damn vulnerable, all I want to do is help her. Be there for her. Love her…

If only I could convince Fable to give me a second chance. Then I wouldn’t feel so lost anymore, and neither would she. We could be found together.

Firstly thank you for taking the time to do this interview with me for Whirlwindbooks, I am a huge fan of your novels and think you kind of amazing. I thought I would jump right in and ask what inspired you to write?

Thank you so much! I’m excited to be here. I’ve always wanted to be a writer, ever since I was a kid. First there came the love for books. I read everything I could. As I got older, I realized I wanted to write. It just took me a while to actually sit down and do it seriously.

I loved your books! I was just curious how did the idea for this series come about?

Fable’s been hanging out with me for years. I made an attempt at a terrible YA with Fable Maguire as the main character back in 2009. It wasn’t that good. But Fable waited patiently until I came up with the idea for One Week Girlfriend—and I knew she would be the perfect girl for Drew.

Regarding Drew’s character and his issues, I saw a report on the news one night about a young teacher who was arrested for having sex with her seventeen year old student. I started thinking how the media rarely makes a boy that age out as a victim. They almost praise him like, score dude! You know what I mean? I wanted to tackle that and make Drew a messed up, broken guy who finds acceptance and healing from a messed up, broken girl. I hope I succeeded.

- Are there going to be more books in the same series? Maybe a spin off or something? I just cannot get enough!

I hope to tackle Colin and Jen’s story. I would also love to write a book for Owen. I love Owen. He deserves his own story.

-How did you find the support from other Authors? I have always been curious if it is a welcoming world or if you have to gain respect to be considered a part of it.

Writers are some of the best people in the world. As long as you’re friendly and supportive of each other, it’s amazing how quick you can bond with your fellow authors. I’ve met some amazing people, people I didn’t even know three months ago that I can now call my friends. It’s a tremendously supportive group.

- How much of the book came from your imagination and how much came from real people and experiences?

Most of it sprang from my weird and crazy head. I don’t know a Drew or a Fable or an Adele—more than anything, these characters are a mash up of all sorts of people I’ve encountered over the years.

- If you were to cast a movie for the book, who would you pick to play who?

This question is so difficult because with Drew + Fable, I didn’t imagine any actors or celebrities while writing the books. But if I had to cast it, I would choose Zac Efron for Drew (I can’t believe I’m saying that—I used to think he was too pretty but he’s grown into all that prettiness and now he’s pretty hot). For Fable, I think Amanda Seyfried would do an amazing job. She can pull off tough and vulnerable, and that’s exactly what Fable is.

- Do you have any other books planned that are not related to this series?

I’m currently working on the first book for my new series with Avon Impulse. It’s their digital first line but the books will be available in print as well, which is so cool. This series is different than the Drew + Fable books. A little more mature, so to speak. Sexier, the heroes are three best friends who also happen to be billionaires (nice right? LOL) and they make some stupid bet that they will never get tied down to a woman. Of course, I will make sure they fall and fall hard for a woman. Because that’s my job. *winks*

- Thank you again for taking the time to answer my Questions!

Thank you so much for having me as a guest!

-  Pretending He’s Mine by Lauren Blakely

-  REAL by Katy Evans

- Unbroken by Melody Grace

-  Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren

- Fa├žade by Nyrae Dawn

Favorite ice-cream flavor: Mint chocolate chip

Celebrity Crush: Currently? I’m always crushing on celebrities…Jay Ryan from CW’s Beauty and the Beast. Dude he is HOT.

What book do you wish you had written: There’s really no book I wish I had written. More like I read something that’s absolutely beautiful and moving and I think, wow I wish I could write like that. Wish I could move someone like that. Reading an amazing book pushes me to become a better writer.
