Twenty-one-year-old Sophia Ross has lived under the pressure of her parents expectations since the tragic accident that shattered their once perfect family. Determined to start over where no one knows her, she answers a housing ad on Craigslist and takes a job at a little bar in a town she has never heard of. All Sophia's looking for is a place to escape, somewhere she can hide behind her lies and keep herself distracted.
She just didn’t expect to be distracted by Corbin Kasey.
Twenty-five-year-old Corbin Kasey is stuck in his hometown, his job, and his life, spending more time covering for his Dad’s problems than trying to fix his own. To take his mind off everything he has the wild Kayla, his stable roommates, and the calmness of swimming in Mills Lake. He always thought it was enough to keep him from drowning in himself, until he meets Sophia.
Neither of them are prepared for their lies to be stripped away by a single kiss. But for Corbin and Sophia, the truth has consequences.

Review—The Truth About Us by T.J. Hannah
“…the thing about lying is that it always catches up. There is always that moment where I have to commit to it. Go all in or change my life.”
Tired of living the life that her parents have chosen for her, Sophia Ross decides that it’s time to make some life changing decisions. Moving to a small, crap-town, in the middle of nowhere; starting a job at a bar instead of finishing school and living with two of the most odd and adorable people, she could ever hope to meet…until she meets him.
“Some of my best thinking is done in this lake, and it’s the only place where I feel totally at peace. The noise in my head is replaced by the constant reminder to just remember to breathe.”
Corbin Kasey has lived in the same place his entire life. With a drunk for a father who happens to own the local bar, and a mother who is gone, Corbin pretty much takes care of everything and everyone. The stresses of daily life are tiring but at least he doesn’t have to worry about a relationship too. Corbin is quite happy with his current arrangement, one where he sleeps with the girl, and that’s it. Kayla, his lead bartender, is okay with that too…until she becomes the newest bartender.
What can they do when neither wants to open up about the skeletons in their closet, but yet feel close enough to want to share everything?
“Do you ever feel like life has already passed you by? Like you’re dead in a sea of lies with nothing or no one around to talk to. No one who understands what it feels like to not be in control of a single facet of your life? Even your death.” “Yeah, I do.”
This story did things to me…it broke me, mended me, melted me, and hardened me. I really love when a story does that. Sophia and Corbin are both fighting separate demons and while he handles his better than she does, neither one is completely unscathed. The way everything seemed to unravel had me reeling and turning pages almost faster than I could read them. I couldn’t get enough of what T.J. Hannah had to offer in her debut of pure awesomeness. I of course have a few questions, and certainly hope there is another book because I want MORE! MORE I SAY!
