Review—Kitchen Promises by Brooke Cumberland

“You deserve it, Molly.  You deserve to show off your happiness just like every other engaged woman out there.  Just because you’re on bed rest and pregnant, don’t mean you can’t celebrate our engagement.  I want nothing more in this world than to call you my wife, and I want to know make sure everyone knows that.”

Drake and Molly are official.  In pretty much every way.  She’s pregnant and they are finally engaged!  Living under one roof, with Stella, Michael and even Liam sometimes, Drake couldn’t be happier.  The family that they have created together is nothing short of perfect…except someone from Molly’s past has made his way back into her present, causing more than just a little ripple in their plans for “happily ever after.”

Problem is, Molly still feels the need to protect Drake.  After what happened the last time she ran to him with her problems, she nearly lost him…that was not something she was prepared to handle again; let alone with a bundle of arms and legs on the way.  Can Molly finally find a way to stop her past from shattering every dream she has ever had?  Is she strong enough to out her paternity to save the father of her own child?  What about her family…can the truth of her past finally be put to rest?

“The change of ever knowing the donor in a sperm clinic is supposed to none, unless you ask a person you already know, so to know about Stanley and the truth filled every hole in my heart.  Knowing about the other half of your identity might not be important to everyone, but it’s beyond special to me.  To be able to know I’m part German and part French Canadian means I can relate to a part of my own identity.”

Her identity is something that can never be taken away.  So, she gets her family…she gets the guy…she gets it all.  Lucky girl.

“Molly, I don’t need a fancy ceremony.  I don’t need the flowers, the big cake, or even the cheesy music.  I just need you.  I only want you.  And if that means writing our vows on chalkboards, than it’s exactly what I want.”

I LOVE Drake.  He is sweet and sensitive and extremely attentive, I don’t care that Molly is pregnant; that man is a keeper!  Kitchen Promises was a wonderful finish to the Riverside Trilogy.  I think their story comes full circle and yet has a fresh beginning of “happily ever after.”  If I just ruined it for you, I’m sorry but you have to know that an HEA is almost mandatory at this point, right?  Brooke Cumberland did a wonderful job of keeping that tension and suspense up until the very end, and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome!
