Deep Down - Review (V)

Title: Deep Down
Author: Elle Aycart
Release: February 11, 2014

Mike Haddican is a proud small-town gym owner, a renowned karate instructor, and all-around good guy. He’s never needed much to be happy: his family, his friends, his girl. Especially his girl. But when Kyra left him seven years ago to chase her dreams, she all but destroyed him.

Contemporary dancer Kyra Brims made it big, but it cost her dearly. With her life and career in shambles, she doesn’t need a do-over, she needs a friggin’ miracle. Injured, broke, and out of options after going through hell, she’s come back to Alden, the town she swore she’d never return to and home of Mike Haddican, the man who ripped her soul to pieces, to lick her wounds and recover.

Forgetting and letting go proved impossible when they were worlds apart; now that they’re stuck together they don’t stand a chance, especially with Mike’s grandma and her partners in crime plotting, meddling and refusing to give up on them.

As the passion that never died burns out of control, so do old hurts and unresolved issues. Both have reasons to be angry and feel betrayed, but now that they’re older, are they wise enough to make things work?

Review—Deep Down by Elle Aycart

“She would never tell him, but the truth of the matter was, Mike could never be a rebound thing for her.  He would always be so much more.  He could destroy her with a word.  With a look.  Mike was the kind of guy she would never bounce back from.”
Seven years.
That’s how long it took for life to come full circle.  Problem is, a lot of things change in seven years.  Old hurts and past mistakes not only harbor resentment between Mike & Kyra, but at the root of everything sits a miscommunication that has had seven years to manifest into something so much bigger than it should’ve been.

Now, Mike and Kyra try everything they can to avoid one another…but no matter how hard they try, something (or a certain trio of someones’) keep pushing them back together.  Only time will tell if what they had long ago still stands, and if their future can be what it was intended to be.

“And by the way, the brunette may have me wrapped round her little finger, but her mother has more power over me.  She’s got me wrapped around every part of her.  She just has to smile at me to send me to my feet.”
Oh, we cannot forget about Sam.

That little girl just might be the glue that bonds Mike and Kyra back together…even if she isn’t Mike’s daughter…she and her mother are his, always have been, always will be.  Now, to just convince the rest of Alden (and everywhere else) that some bonds just cannot be broken, no matter how much time has passed, what mistakes have been made, and who tries to interfere.

Deep Down, love always wins.

I have to say, I really enjoyed this book.  This is the first book I’ve read by Elle Aycart and I certainly look forward to reading more.  While the story was good…the sex was amazing!  Like HOT!  And often!  Plus the fact that Mike is an extremely dirty talker…holy…wow.  As an added bonus, there are three sassy old ladies that I think I would like to know in real life…if only all grandmas were that meddling & cute about it!

Author Bio:

After a colorful array of jobs all over Europe ranging from translator to chocolatier to travel agent to sushi chef to flight dispatcher, Elle Aycart is certain of one thing and one thing only: aside from writing romances, she has abso-frigging-lutely no clue what she wants to do when she grows up. Not that it stops her from trying all sorts of crazy stuff. While she is probably now thinking of a new profession, her head never stops churning new plots for her romances. She lives currently in Barcelona, Spain, with her husband and two daughters, although who knows, in no time she could be living at the Arctic Circle in Finland, breeding reindeer.

Elle loves to hear from readers!
