Stone Cold Touch - Review

Title: White Hot Kiss
Author: Jennifer L Armentrout
Release Date: February 25th

One kiss could be the last.

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

Every time I read a book from Jennifer I get so excited, a children of Christmas Eve has nothing on me; I cannot sleep, I book the day off work, I turn my phone on silent and stack snacks next to me because proper food is irrelevant if it means taking a break. This book was no different, I was consumed with the prequel novella 'Bitter Sweet Love' and I literally counted down the days until I had another book in this series in my hands.

Roth let out a low breath. “Your mother was known by many names...And because of that, you’re on Hell’s Most Wanted List.”

One thing I love about Jennifer's books is the fact she can write anything; Greek god (check), Aliens (check), New Adult (check), Thrillers (check), Paranormal (check) . . . Gargoyles? (CHECK) . . . I mean who ever thought you could make Gargoyles sexy?? But OH MY do I want babies with them, little flying, biting, half changing babies.

...the Wardens went public ten years ago. The Alphas had ordered the Wardens to come out of the shadows. To humans, Wardens had come out of their stone shells. After all, the gargoyles adorning many churches and buildings had been carved to resemble a Warden in his true skin.

The first thing I have to bring up is yes there is a 'love triangle' personally I think to think of it as a confused triangle because Layla need's to pick Roth . . .  Mhmmm just the sound of his name makes me smile. You might be surprised to hear though Roth is not a Gargoyle . . . Nope he is a demon, frankly he can bring his demonic self right to my house (would saying my bed be a little formal? because well that is what I really mean).

“The newcomer stood well over six feet, as tall as any Warden. His hair was dark, the color of obsidian, and it reflected blue in the dim light. Lazy locks slipped over his forehead and curled just below his ears. Brows arched over golden eyes and his cheekbones were broad and high. He was attractive. Very attractive. Mind-bendingly beautiful, actually, but the sardonic twist to his full lips chilled his beauty. The black T-shirt stretched across his chest and flat stomach. A huge tattoo of a snake curled around his forearm, the tail disappearing under his sleeve and the diamond-shaped head rested on the top of his hand. He looked my age. Total crush material—if it wasn’t for the fact that he had no soul.”

The plot of this book was interesting and fresh, Gargoyles as the protectors against evil, I just could NOT get enough in fact I would be okay with hibernating until the next book is released as the wait is just going to kill me! Well okay I won't die but I will live my life in a foggy despair.

He leaned in again, his lips brushing the curve of my cheek. “Let me suggest more appropriate places. I have this piercing—"

I also love the idea of good vs evil - It showed me that nothing is truly as it seems just because you are a warden doesn't mean you aren't evil inside and the same with Demons. Roth is supposed to signal all that is evil and wrong with the world but you realise he is so much more than that.  I feel in love with his honestly and smugness there is something about a man who can be playful and sweet yet full of cockiness at other times.

“You need something," he said, and when I stared at him, he added, "Your face."
"My face?"
"It's in need of my kisses.”

Bambi - Oh my dear amazing 'creature' - Bambi is someone you have to meet, seriously I could write a paragraph on her but then I might spoil it for other people.

"Don't be scared of Bambi" the demon said. "She's only curious and maybe a little bit hungry."

The thing was named Bambi?

Oh, my God, the thing stared at me like it wanted to eat me.”

You must must must read this book! Followed by every other book Jennifer has written, trust me it will be worth it.

6/5 stars because Jennifer is in a league of her own.
