Blog Tour -- Indebted #1 Debt Inheritance by Pepper Winters ~V~

“I own you. I have the piece of paper to prove it. It’s undeniable and unbreakable. You belong to me until you’ve paid off your debts.”
Nila Weaver’s family is indebted. Being the first born daughter, her life is forfeit to the first born son of the Hawks to pay for sins of ancestors past. The dark ages might have come and gone, but debts never leave. She has no choice in the matter.
She is no longer free.
Jethro Hawk receives Nila as an inheritance present on his twenty-ninth birthday. Her life is his until she’s paid off a debt that’s centuries old. He can do what he likes with her—nothing is out of bounds—she has to obey.
There are no rules. Only payments.
A modern day Dark Erotic Romance

I stood up slowly, clicking my tongue. “Ah, ah, ah, Ms. Weaver. Don’t take that tone with me. You’re the failure. You’re the prisoner. You take what I give you. You do not assume to have any say or authority. That includes listening to everything I deem important to tell you.” Ghosting to a stop in front of her, I murmured, “Is that quite understood?”
I flexed my muscles, welcoming back the soothing chillness of control. I hadn’t liked stepping outside my confines of civility. Things got messy when silence was disrupted. Things got rushed when tempers rose and curses flowed.
And I didn’t want to rush her undoing. I wanted to savour it. Devour it.

“People who knew me said I was a gentleman.  They called me distinguished, accomplished, and shrewd.  I was all of those things, but none of them.  We might live in a civilized world, but rules and laws don’t apply to me.  I was a rule-breaker, curse-maker, life-stealer.”

Jethro Hawk.

“One mistake six hundred years ago put a curse on her entire family.  One mistake sold her life to me in a mountain of unpayable debt.  I inherited her. I preyed on her. I owned her life and had the piece of paper to prove it.”

Nila Weaver. Beautiful without even knowing it…and after the biggest show of her life, no one would ever get to witness her beauty again.  Not in person or in her woven masterpieces in the name she created for herself.

Nila didn’t know it yet, but her fate was already chosen for her the moment she was born.  She was to be given to another.  A man.  A Hawk.

“I didn’t look back.  I should’ve looked back.  I should never have placed my hand into that of a monster’s.  That was my last day of freedom.  The last day that was my own.”

“I’m alone.  I’m being stolen for a debt only I can repay.  A debt I know nothing about.”

This is one of those books that a reader will either love or hate.  I am the former, I loved it.  I was gripped from page one and didn’t stop turning pages until the cliffhanger of an ending.

Yes, it was a cliffhanger.  Yes, this is a series…of up to seven books.  Yes, it’s a full-length novel disguised as serial.   Yes, I will beg and plea for Pepper to write faster so I know what will happen next.  No, I’m not telling you anymore except…READ this book.  If you like twisted, and I mean twisted, then you will love the beginning of a story that is dark, evil, and straight up dirty.  That is what this is…a beginning.  Remember that when you are left feeling incomplete after the pages fall empty.  There is more to come and I cannot wait to taste the next chapter between Jethro Hawk and Nila Weaver.
