Abbi Glines - One More Chance (Review)

#1 New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines continues the unforgettable story of Grant Carter, the irrestible playboy who first captured readers’ hearts in Fallen Too Far.

The second installment in a never before published New Adult duet by #1 New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines, ONE MORE CHANCE  is the follow up to the smash hit TAKE A CHANCE, and concludes the story of Grant Carter, a fan favorite character, and Harlow.
She was it. His one. His only. Then he made the mistake of letting her go.
After fighting his way into Harlow Manning’s heart—and revealing a side of himself no one had ever seen before—Grant Carter destroyed his own heart by giving in to his greatest fears and doubts. Months later, he’s stuck in a miserable routine. Work relentlessly. Beg his best friend Rush for news about Harlow. Avoid all other friends. Leave nightly voicemails for Harlow, pleading with her to come back to Rosemary Beach. Fall asleep alone. Repeat.
Miles away, on her brother’s Texas ranch, Harlow can’t bring herself to listen to Grant’s voicemails. Though she wants to be with him, and knows he regrets letting her go, she doesn’t know if she can trust him. When he discovered the truth behind her sheltered upbringing, it shattered their relationship, but the secret she carries now has far greater consequences. Can she risk giving Grant one more chance, or will the gamble ultimately destroy her?
With her signature passionate characters and sizzling connections, Abbi Glines debuts another steamy, page-turning novel that will leave readers desperate for more.

 Review -
Abbi Glines is an author who has has been with me (or at least been on my kindle) since I re-discovered my love of reading, I feel like I have gone on a journey with not only her characters but Abbi herself and I have loved every moment. One More Chance really shows me just how amazing her talent with words can be; The growth, the emotion, the love and the passion had me glued to my kindle needing to devour the book - I Think it is safe to say Harlow and Grant are my favourite couple.
“Love shouldn't make our choices for us; it should just add importance to our choices.”
Like many other readers I finished the second book wanting to give Grant a good speaking to, and maybe a little smack on his bottom! (But that might have been for my own benefit). I could understand his actions but that doesn't mean I had to like them, my heart ached for Harlow and I was proud at the strength she showed.
“I had imagined walking down the aisle toward a man who saw and loved only me. A man who loved me in all of my awkwardness. A man who loved me and my imperfect heart. For a moment, I was sure I had found that…”
The book begins with Grant realising the mistake he has made, he knows he messed up and the pain he feels shoots straight through your heart. You want him to find Harlow and make everything okay but like most things in life it is never that easy because Harlow has a secret that she needs to protect.
“I fucked up. I fucked up so bad.”
You begin to question if they can make it, will they overcome all the hurdles that have been put in their way or will they let their personal daemons ruin what could possibly be a forever kind of love, as a reader you find yourself wishing that they cave and give into that 'One More Chance'.
“I’ve never been so empty in my life. You took my soul with you. You took my heart. I’m this empty shell who goes through the motions every day, waiting for you to call me…. I never imagined a life like this, but without you, I can’t imagine a life. You are my life. You were what was missing in my life.”
One of my favourite things about this book is the way you can see the characters maturing and growing from page to page, Grant and Harlow know that they need to fix themselves before they can work on fixing anything else no matter how hard that feels. Believe me you will be feeling everything right along with them, when I say this is a heat sting puller I am not exaggerating. The emotion that was built up throughout the book was just beautiful, you literally get lost in the love, desperation and pain.
“If I could hear your voice tonight, Harlow, if I could just hear you tell me you’re OK . . . I would be better. I would be able to take a deep breath. Then I’d beg. I would beg you to love me. I would beg you to forgive me.”
This is a book that you cannot miss, it shows the very best of Abbi Glines and I d not think these characters will be leaving me any time in the near future and you know what I am okay with that, I love the fact it has been a few weeks since I finished this story and I still find myself lost in the pages or staring off into space and replaying certain scenes.
4.5/5 Stars.
