Review :

First I want to start this review by saying I am a HUGE Jamie McGuire fan; The Providence Series, Beautiful Disaster and Red Hill are among my all time favourite books and I went into this with such high expectations - if anything I prefer Jamie's paranormal books to her New Adult (I am a PNR junkie) and that makes this review a little hard . . . please do not get me wrong I did not dislike the book I just found it hard to get into, so before you judge me for this review please take a moment to understand my reasoning.

The storyline behind this book was amazing, it was fresh and new and I couldn't wait to see how it panned out - I have only ever seen this type of book successfully done once so I hoped it could be done again.

Let me start off with Rory . . . I just didn't get her at all and felt nothing from her character. I couldn't relate or empathise with what she has been through I just felt as though she was closed off and cold. I wanted to like her but I struggled to, her relationships with other people seemed very false.

The 'Love Triangle' . . .  gah I am not even sure it qualifies as one . . . I didn't feel anything between her and either guy. . .  Nothing. There was no build up, no flirting just awkwardness that kind of made me cringe. I wanted and I needed more, there was no emotion between anyone in this book which I just don't understand because in Jamie's other books the emotion is what I have loved the most.

I had no preference to who she ended up with and the only thing that kept me going was the fact this is Jamie freaking McGuire and her books usually rock my bloody socks off and I hoped and prayed that there was something I was missing and I just needed to wait for it to hit me.

I am also confused as to the title . . . without spoiling it the 'thing' behind it makes so sense, that is not the focus of the book I was just wanting more . . .

The storyline had such potential, and I am just disappointed. Please know this will not stop me from reading future books by Jamie in fact I am looking forward to them.

2.5/5 stars.
