I lie to survive. Have since I was sixteen and my world fell into chaos. But I found a way to endure, or rather it found me. Now I’m a prisoner of my own doing, hiding behind a false mask so no one sees the truth. Not even the man I want but can’t have—Deck. But I messed up and the lies are spilling over, out of control. Deck is unrelenting and will settle for nothing less than the truth. He demands everything from me—EVERYTHING—even if it rips me apart. DECK I kill for a living. Unyielding—It’s how I survive in my line of work. I bend people to my will…except Georgie. But that ends now. I've played her game for far too long, but not anymore. Now I think it's time we play mine.

“Conner. He was gone. I’d never hear his teasing. Feel the touch of his hand ruffling my hair. Hear his voice calling me ‘Georgie Girl’. He promised to come back. Pain. Hurt. Devastation. ‘Chaos’.”
How does a sixteen year old girl cope with losing the one person she loves most in the world? Her very best friend? Her brother?
“I hated that Deck saw me break that day. I hated that he lived and my brother died, and I hated that I’d wanted him to hold me and take the pain away. Then I hated him more because he didn’t. Deck was everything I wasn’t that day—strong, controlled, and unafraid.”
Georgie now has to figure out how to move forward in her life after Deck delivers the one type of news she was never prepared to hear…until she realizes after he leaves that not only has her brother died, but Deck has left her too.
Two years goes by before he comes back. And when he does, Georgie is a completely different person…one Deck isn’t sure he likes. Partying, drinking, men. It tears him up to see her so reckless with herself and if he could walk away, he would. But a promise is a promise and Deck promised Conner he would always watch over her. So he does…and as the time goes by, things get worse.
In more ways than one.
Georgie on the other hand, knows just what she’s doing—what she has been doing for the last ten years. Georgie is hiding.
Hiding her true self in hopes to keep the one person who knows her better than anyone clueless as to what she’s really been doing…problem is, Deck knows her a lot better than she realizes and her weakness when it comes to him is ultimately her undoing.
And possibly his.
“Deck had never kissed me and it pissed me off that my body reacted that way around him. He was my grim reaper with it came to having a love life of any kind, but I couldn’t help my body’s reaction to him; it had always been that way. Love can’t be stopped. I should know. I’d been living with him wrapped around my heart since I was sixteen. Even when my life changed into something that wasn’t real, my feelings for Deck never faltered.”
This is ultimately one HOT love story, but I haven’t been gripped by the suspense in a novel in a very long time…this book did it for me. Not only did I want to know what would happen between Deck and Georgie, the chemistry off the charts between them; with her constant flirting and his unyielding hardness, it was just sexy. I absolutely loved seeing old faces and this was a fabulous transition from ‘Rocker Romance’ to ‘Special Ops Sexy’, the blending of the two worlds felt seamless. Brava, Ms. Rose, this book hit all my buttons.
I can’t tell you where the suspense hits because honestly, that needs to be read—felt. The love story that comes with it is the perfect combination of angst and panty-dropping…and I mean wow. That one scene in the shower….yeah.
So, what can I say? I’m a sucker for strong women, even stronger men, and characters I can relate to. Nashoda Rose checked every one off the list with a finesse very few can pull off. Totally recommend you get on the ‘Unyielding Riot’ train because it will take you for a ride like you’ve never been on before!
“You want to find yourself, Georgie? Get that part of you back that you lost? Then stop running from it. All HE did was teach you how to survive. But, baby, now I get to teach you how to live.”
