Release Blitz -- Punk 57

Title: Punk 57
Genre: New Adult
Author: Penelope Douglas
Release Date: October 21, 2016

From New York Times Bestselling Author, Penelope Douglas, comes the latest New Adult romance of love, hate, and everything in between...
"We were perfect together. Until we met."
I can’t help but smile at the lyrics in her letter. She misses me.
In fifth grade, my teacher set us up with pen pals from a different school. Thinking I was a girl, with a name like Misha, the other teacher paired me up with her student, Ryen. My teacher, believing Ryen was a boy like me, agreed.
It didn’t take long for us to figure out the mistake. And in no time at all, we were arguing about everything. The best take-out pizza. Android vs. iPhone. Whether or not Eminem is the greatest rapper ever…
And that was the start. For the next seven years, it was us.
Her letters are always on black paper with silver writing. Sometimes there’s one a week or three in a day, but I need them. She’s the only one who keeps me on track, talks me down, and accepts everything I am.
We only had three rules. No social media, no phone numbers, no pictures. We had a good thing going. Why ruin it?
Until I run across a photo of a girl online. Name’s Ryen, loves Gallo’s pizza, and worships her iPhone. What are the chances?
F*ck it. I need to meet her.
I just don’t expect to hate what I find.
He hasn’t written in three months. Something’s wrong. Did he die? Get arrested? Knowing Misha, neither would be a stretch.
Without him around, I’m going crazy. I need to know someone is listening. It’s my own fault. I should’ve gotten his phone number or picture or something.
He could be gone forever.
Or right under my nose, and I wouldn’t even know it.
*Punk 57 is a stand alone New Adult romance. It is suitable for ages 18+.

Blogger Review

I have the highest expectations when I read a Pen Douglas book...and she never disappoints. Punk 57 is just one more that I will need to add to my shelf. Not only is the cover gorgeous, but the content in which that cover holds is pure literary gold. I am rarely able to stay up into late hours to read anymore but for some reason, anytime I start reading one of Douglas's books, I can't tear my eyes away and my body just seems to know that I HAVE to keep reading to finish the story.

With Punk 57, there was so much more. This was a story I wanted to not just read. Devour. It was a story I wanted (and still want to) TALK about! To anyone who will listen. I want everyone to pick up this book and read it. Because it was that amazing.

"You were the only thing that was real to me."

And that's what this story is. REAL. It's real life. It's what people face on a daily basis (not just kids either--everyone). It takes the ugly parts no one wants to talk about and shines the brightest spotlight on all of it. Punk 57 makes sure we understand that even if it's fiction, it's can be real too...finding the good in something or someone despite the bad image they project.

It's about learning to walk a mile in someone else's shoes and not judging them because they're different. It's about accepting diversity and loving all types...and putting assholes in their places every once in a while. This book reminds us that in the day and age we live in, bullying doesn't stop when we leave our groups/schools/jobs. Through the power of social media, we can be targeted for an infinite amount of time with no escape. When that happens, it's the strength we gain, the thickness of our skin, the true friends that have our backs, and the genuine care we can fall back on from people we trust.

I loved every chapter, every page, every sentence. Douglas delivered a story that I lived. She made sure that even the worst seeming people could have redeeming qualities. And above all of that, she reminds us the value of a handwritten letter...and a genuine apology.

"But what if I hear her voice and I like it? What if her laughter in my ear and her breathing into the phone haunts me as much as her words, and I want more? I'm already obsessed enough with her letters. Which is why I'm sitting in my truck in an empty parking lot, rereading one of her old ones, because they inspire..."
